San Francisco, CA – Ripple and BitPay partnership is heading up into new heights as Ripple’s XRP is starting to increase its reach in other outlets. It might be a little early to celebrate just yet, but XRP is set to have a significant upward move as 2019 ends.
BitPay used Bitcoin and Bitcoin Cash in 2011; Ethereum early in September this year, and now it has found a new cryptocurrency to use in the trading market.
From the official statement BitPay released through Twitter, they expressed how BitPay merchants from all over the world will be able to experience and accept XRP payments along with other cryptocurrencies like BTC, BCH, and ETH. Their partnership with XRP cryptocurrency by Ripple is set to be available to their customers by the end of 2019.
When BitPay was first launched in 2011, it was only using Bitcoin as well as the Bitcoin Cash for trading and its transactions. After that, BitPay has also started to include Ethereum to its payment choices. But recently, they announced an ongoing partnership that hopes to achieve a considerable expansion to their payment ecosystem.
Ripple also gave a statement about the partnership, saying thousands of people and businesses will now be able to accept XRP through the payment processing services that BitPay.
According to the official blog posts from both companies, the full integration between BitPay services and Ripples XRP cryptocurrency is set to take place before the year ends.
Although the joining of forces between the two platforms is starting to become promising, both companies have experienced issues and controversies lately. One of the main BitPay controversies is the excessive fees customers have to pay as the platform adopts a Segwit-incompatible legacy TS address. The company has also been facing some severe censorship accusations recently, mainly the $100, 000 donation that was supposed to receive by the NGO Amazon Watch last August, which wasn’t processed.
Weeks after the fiasco, BitPay faced another accusation of censoring the BTC donations to the protestors in Hong Kong. Ripple has its fair share of criticisms over the years as well, especially with its constant XRP sales, centralization, and their overall philosophy, which makes them like a financial service company more than a cryptocurrency.
But despite the obstacles, Ripple and BitPay’s partnership is starting to take a turn for the better. BitPay continues to be one of the forefronts when it comes to cryptocurrency payment processors all over the world, while Ripple’s XRP is ranking high on most capitalizes crypto at the moment. A lot of XRP users say that the Ripple and BitPay partnership has long been overdue. And with the massive gains that both platforms are getting, the end of the year is starting to look like a considerable success.
Along with the partnership news of BitPay and Ripple, Ripple’s investment arm Xpring also showed the new Software Development Kit (SDK) they developed on the same day. The kit is set to incorporate and support crypto payments in other applications. BitPay is going to be part of the SDK platform.
